You know what David, I couldn't agree more. I recently went through a period of throwing myself into the day job, just going with the flow but losing elements along with it. When I came to time off, I was determined to get into creative mode with writing and such like but just couldn't get into the groove and got more antsy. I was only when I really did let go and go with the flow that I realised I wanted to read stuff that took my mind away to other places, other times. More than that, reading voraciously for a week allowed me to just rest and rejuvenate which had been so vital. As a result, the creative energy and a ton of inspiration came back...all back I went with the flow...counter intuitive to a person who can be slightly control-freakish like me but what was needed.

I applaud your following the beat of a different drummer and let's talk about that slightly different path you might follow!

You are so right Krish. The last year was the most successful I've had since starting my own business. This was a year when others are failing and falling by the way side. Although I was enervated by this realisation of continued success I have not 'achieved my goal' as I'm not sure there is a specific one. Sadly, what I did realise was that while that year was so successful financially, there was a 'whatever happens this must also be in the mix' which had got lost after all this activity and was still missing earlier in the year.
It was only when I started taking my photography seriously again that things changed and the 'mix' changed and began bringing me adventures I had forgotten were waiting to be experienced and allowed wings to unfold in a way they had not for a very long time. Silly that something as narcissistic as taking photos of one self can be so enervating. It's not only seeing yourself in a different light, or a light you might have not seen for sometime, but also the comments you might receive from others you have not met, but they have seen you and thought you deserve that compliment.
So once again I've got ants-in-my-pants to walk a slightly different path and enjoy the experience of the mix and delight in learning to be more me again.
